Living for Christ: spiritual gifts
Last week we talked about the Holy Spirit. The Holy spirit equips us. When we believe on Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have the Holy Spirit dwell within us. God gives us spiritual gifts for His glory.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6, "Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God activates each gift in each person."
There are many spiritual gifts... Paul goes on to mention some in 1 Corinthians 12:7-10 and in Romans 12:6-8.
We can live for Christ using these spiritual gifts. Each of these gifts help us to serve Christ. He equips us each differently and for different reasons. He gives some of us the gift of encouragement and you should use it to encourage others. He gives others the gift of teaching and you should use it to teach. He gives others of us the gift of mercy which you can use to show compassion to others.
It's good to know our spiritual gifts, to know how we can best serve the Lord, but please know if you think you don't have giving or mercy isn't your spiritual gift doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. We should still give, show mercy, and encourage others - even if it isn't our spiritual gift.
Also, even though we have different spiritual gifts we are still the body of Christ... and should be united. We can go more into that in a different post.
1 Corinthians 12:11, "But one and the same Spirit is active in all there, distributing to each person as He wills."
If you are a follower of Jesus God has give you spiritual gifts. Use those gifts for His honor and glory. Seek to glorify Him in all that you do.
If you aren't sure what your spiritual gifts are then you can take a spiritual gifts test here.

What are your spiritual gifts? How do you use them for God? Or how can you use them for God? Any thoughts on the subject?
I love this post! So many people have no idea what their spiritual gifts are, and they really do need to be used to serve the body of Christ. I took a little class on it last summer at a leadership conference, and mine was mercy.
ReplyDeleteI need to do some more in depth study on what that exactly means, but I do believe that I'm able to be compassionate with the sufferings of other people, but I can struggle to do that when they are struggling with things I don't understand. There is always room to grow of course and just because we have a spiritual gift doesn't mean that we will always be good at it either, we SOO need Jesus :)
Yes we really need Jesus. That's really cool about the leadership conference. Yeah, we're going to struggle with how to use our spiritual gifts but we have the Holy Spirit to guide us :).
DeleteKeep learning, and I don't think we'll ever be able to stop learning ... and growing.
Thanks for reading and your encouraging comment!
